Fantasy Baseball and Fantasy Baseball PLUS operate much the same way, except with baseball players and at a different time of year. Fantasy Basketball and Fantasy Hockey games are both free and research add-ons can also be purchased.
Yahoo! Fantasy Sports software also has a great selection of Pick ‘Em games, which are not as expansive or time-consuming than a full-on fantasy league. These games can be played concurrently with your fantasy league as well. The concept is simple – just pick the winner of every game and rack up the points as the season proceeds. Fantasy Golf, Fantasy Auto Racing, Pro Football Pick ‘Em, College Football Pick ‘Em, College Bowl Pick ‘Em and Tournament Pick ‘Em are all available with the season of their corresponding sport.
Yahoo! Salary Cap Football is a variation on a standard league that requires fantasy entrants to fill their team with rosters of pro players for no more than $100 million in combined salaries. The more highly ranked the player the higher their salary will be. Player salaries are determined and updated at the end of each week of regular season play depending on the players’ real-life performance in current and previous seasons.
Yahoo! Survival Football is another variation of game play that sounds simple – each week of the NFL’s 17-week season choose one time you think will win. If that team wins, you “survive” to pick again. If your selected team loses, you get a Strike and could be eliminated from making any future picks – this is dependent on your group’s settings. The difficulty factor is raised by the rule that says you can only pick one team one time. This means no picking the Patriots every week!
